Frequently asked questions
Sixteen questions couples actually send, answered without the marketing voice. If yours is not here, send it over and it will probably end up on this page.
Do I have to book a consultation just to find out prices?
No. Every price on this site is published. Easy Elopements list a set figure per location, and the other paths show a real starting investment on the pricing page. A call is for designing your day, not for unlocking a number.
Is Tess a planner or a photographer?
Both, and that is the point. She builds the plan, scouts the locations, files the permits and runs the day, then photographs it herself. One person holds the whole thing, so nothing gets lost between a planner and a shooter who have never met.
So who books the vendors?
You do. Tess researches, vets and recommends your florist, officiant, hair and makeup, caterer and anyone else you need, and she makes the introductions. You sign with them and pay them directly, which keeps your contracts in your name and means there is no mark-up passing through anybody.
Can I book instantly on the website?
Not yet. The Easy Elopement form sends a date request, and Tess confirms availability by email, usually within two business days. Nothing is charged here; the retainer comes as an invoice from her once you have both agreed the details.
What is the difference between an Easy Elopement and a Signature Adventure?
An Easy Elopement uses a location Tess has already scouted, with the inclusions, guest limit and price already decided. A Signature Adventure starts from a blank page and is built around your specifics, which takes longer and costs more but can go anywhere.
What is the Dream Book?
A growing catalog of extraordinary concepts — a meteor shower, an eclipse, a castle ruin, an alpine lake — written up as full experiences with locations, ideal dates and a starting investment. Most have not been built yet. You pick one and it becomes yours. Have a look.
How many guests can come?
Anything from just the two of you to about 150. Each Easy Elopement location publishes its own limit because the permit sets it, usually between 8 and 30. Larger numbers move into Custom Weddings.
What if it rains? Or the road is closed, or there is wildfire smoke?
Plan A, Plan B and Plan C are already in motion before the week of your wedding. Tess keeps the timeline steady, handles pivots before they reach you, and every location on this site has a confirmed backup at a similar drive time. Rain photographs beautifully, for what it is worth.
Are these locations accessible?
Several are fully accessible on paved paths, including Kubota Garden, the Woodland Park Rose Garden, the Volunteer Park Conservatory and Discovery Park. Every location page states the walking distance, the surface and the terrain honestly. Tell Tess what you need and she will plan around it rather than ask you to adapt.
Can our dog come?
Yes, wherever the land manager allows it, and Tess will tell you which sites do. She brings extra squeaky toys. City gardens and most state land are fine; several national park sites are not.
How far in advance should we book?
Two to four months is comfortable for an Easy Elopement, six to ten for a Signature Adventure, and a year or more for a full wedding or a destination trip. Shorter notice is often possible, so ask before assuming it is too late.
Do you travel outside Washington?
Regularly. The Pacific Northwest is a weekend trip, and destination weddings are quoted with a flat travel line agreed before you sign.
When do we get our photographs?
A preview set within about a week, and the full gallery four to six weeks after the day. Galleries are private, downloadable at full resolution, and yours to print however you like.
Do you offer video?
Yes, from $1,450, and it is built into the same timeline rather than added on top of it. That matters — video that is planned alongside the photography does not cost you moments.
Can we get legally married at these locations?
In Washington, yes, with a marriage licence from any county auditor. There is a three-day waiting period after you apply and the licence is valid for sixty days. Tess will send you the exact steps for your county, and the paperwork requirements for any destination you choose.
What if we are not sure what we want yet?
Take the two-minute quiz. It asks about travel, planning appetite, guest count and the kind of landscape you are drawn to, then points you at the path that actually fits. It takes less time than reading this page.
